I know, I know, I’ve been lax about my supposedly “weekly” Food blog round up. So this time I”m just going to give links to a number of posts I have seen over the past few weeks that intrigued me.
Want to cook

Strawberries for Spring Sangria from Local Lemons
- Spring Sangria from Local Lemons — The pictures are so beautiful my mouth is already drooling
- Springtime Sparkling Strawberry Lemonade from Yum Sugar — For those who prefer as we used to say in school “EANABS” — equally attractive non-alcoholic beverages
- Spaghetti Carbonada from Umami Girl — Vegetarian spaghetti carbonara… sounds lovely. And I see it as especially useful when serving dinner for vegetarians alongside bacon fanatics
- Marscapone, Nutella and Fresh Berry Toasts from Food Blogga — I love simple pleasures and this is one of them. Marscapone cheese is not something I would have thought adding to this mix but it sounds lovely. Mother’s Day is already past and anyway I’m not a mom, but this is a treat I can sign up for
- Homemade Ricotta from The Hungry Mouse — Or I could always slather some of this beautiful ricotta onto my toast…
- Flour Tortillas from Butter + Cream — Straightforward and very clear instructions. I used to love tortillas from El Machino @ Chevy’s and I’m not ashamed to admit it (ok, maybe a little). And why not use those tortillas in Pork Soft Tacos from Yum Sugar?
- Fava bean recipes from Serious Eats — Fava beans are not that popular and frankly I don’t know why. I like them much better shelled and cooked than peas for example (although truly fresh English peas can be magical). If you’ve never tried them you can start here
- Chocolate Bread from David Lebovitz — Did you say chocolate and bread? I’m there
- Twice Cooked with Toffee Crisp Crackling from Almost Bourdain — Let’s be honest. With the degree of work involved I may not ever make it, or maybe once. I even have this cookbook already…But doesn’t it look delicious? Is there somewhere I can go to just order it off the menu?
Must eat there
- Always on the lookout for new Berkeley restaurants to try and can’t believe Anchalee Thai Cuisine has slipped my notice so far
- D&A Cafe sounds like a great place to hit for cheap and interesting Chinese food but the chance I’ll actually get there is low unless I make it my destination (in the Richmond)
- The Rabbit Pot Pie from Mission Beach Cafe looks like incredible comfort food. I can feel myself comforted just thinking about eating it
- Fergus Henderson comes to town to cook at Incanto and Chez Panisse. I was going to try for reservations at Chez Panisse, but then the lovely Foodhoe emailed to invite me to join her at Incanto. She’s a food saint, not a food hoe
Dinner tomorrow. Report sometime after that
